Your Inner Peace is crucial to setting New Year’s resolutions and goals that work, are achievable and that align with who you truly are.
The beginning of a new year always sparks a goal setting frenzy. We look at goals achieved and un-achieved from the past year and decide what’s important going forward. While going through the process, its important to remember to keep your goals achievable and realistic while still creating a stretch yourself. If your goals are far-fetched or too outrageous, the mere thought of them can cause anxiety and stress and stop you from reaching even the first milestone. That’s why its important to start with your inner peace meditation before doing your goal setting.
To get peaceful and aligned before your begin, download the “Inner Peace Workout – A Guided Meditation” and set aside the time to go through this meditation before you start. When you do, the goals you set are aligned with who you truly are and what you truly want in life because you’ve taken care of your inner you. You’ve given a message to your subconscious that you are important.
From there, it’s a matter of having the right tools on hand to set goals that are achievable, realistic and still have you stretching past where you’ve been before. I usually use a simple process that includes a goal that I believe I can achieve and a target date with several milestone dates leading up to completion. I don’t like to set too many goals but usually keep it to a few major areas such as my health, relationships, wealth/finances, spirituality, home and assets and learning which also includes hobbies and travel.
It’s a simple process but it’s been working for me for a number of years now. In the past I’ve gone through some very complex year-end and beginning processes that took hours or even days but I found it daunting to put that much time aside at a very busy time of year. I’ve found this simple way to be the method that works best for me. I start with the Inner Peace workout (or a similar meditation) and go from there.
Maintaining a strong inner peace while working on your goals and making your sense of inner peace important increases and maintains your ability and desire to stay on track throughout the year.
